A BIG "Brother" Surprise at Normandin

Alex Tavares speaks to Mr. Rosen's Grade 8 ELA class

 

Normandin Middle School was honored to be part of a touching family reunion. 8th grade student Tristan DeSousa was surprised by his older brother, Alex Tavares, who is on leave from the USS Carl Vinson. Alex and Tristan’s father, Victor DeSousa, came by Mr. Rosen’s English class to an unsuspecting Tristan. Alex, a Normandin Middle School and Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical H.S. graduate, spoke to the students about the importance of giving their best effort in school in order to have opportunities in high school and beyond. Tristan would like to thank Alex for being a great big brother. The Normandin community thanks Alex for his time, words of encouragement and his service.
