This Week in Pictures at Normandin Middle School

Successful Mathematicians!

Congratulations to Normandin’s own MathCounts Team lead by Ms. Lauren Aubertine.  The students who worked so diligently was 6th grader Nicholas Eichmann, and 8th graders Meng Lian, Megan daCosta, and the Captain of the team, Brad Ferris.  The Students competed individually in Sprint Round and Target Round, then together in a Team Round.  The team took 4th place in the competition against Brennan Middle School, Forestdale Elementary School, Friends Academy, Roosevelt Middle School, Henry T Wing School, Norwell Middle School, Plymouth Community Intermediate School, Qualters Middle School, South Shore Charter Public School, and lastly Wamsutta Middle School.  The top 3 schools that advanced to states are, listed by rank, Friends Academy, Qualters Middle School, and Forestdale School.  Unfortunately, we didn’t make that list but we are not out of the game yet.  After all the regional competitions are completed, the top 2 4th place rankings will be advancing as well as wildcards, which we will be notified by next Friday.  So let’s keep our fingers crossed!

It's a Girl!

Congratulations to first time Grandfather Tom Quigley - his daughter delivered a baby girl - Avery Kathryn Poole on Wednesday.  Avery Kathryn was 8 lbs 5 ounces and 20.5 inches.  Pod 8.1 student Tanimara won on the baby pool on all counts, as she said the baby would be a girl, weight 8 lbs 2 ounces, and she would arrive on Super Bowl Sunday (2/2/14).

Great Cause—Let's Help Mrs. Grandmont "Kick Cancer's Butt"
Hello everyone, let's pull behind our own Laurie Grandmont to support her sister in law:

From Ms. Grandmont:
On Sunday February 23rd, I will be running the Hyannis Half-Marathon on behalf of my awesome sister-in-law, Jana, who is fighting stage 4 cancer. Her family has been struggling to pay the costly hospital bills and as you can see (on the link below), many family and friends are trying to help them by donating money to this site. I am not a fast runner, but love this sport and have to do this run for Jana. If you would consider donating at least $2/mile or whatever your heart tells you, know we would sincerely appreciate your support. Thank you, and with much love and appreciation,  Laurie G.
