21st Century Group Promotes Animal Advocacy

**Website designed by Kalli Arruda and MacKenzie Davis**

Ms. Simmons and her students Juan Ca'ez, Kayla Pacheco, Mackenzie Davis, Kalli Arruda, Alondra Pino, Kasey Langlous, Kyle Charron, Jerome Adams, Seth Charron, Kody Amado and Corrie Branco are participating in our after school 21st Century Learning Program and are very excited about the projects they have completed to date. They have really thought of some ingenious ideas to promote animal advocacy and worked to reach the fundraising goals to support them.  We are so very proud of this groups work.  We welcome your contributions to support such worthy causes.

The 1st Project: The "Bone Fundraiser."

The students took time to create colorful and different style paper cut out bones. They then organized all the letters and folders that would be used to collect money and explain their projects to others. They sold the bones to teachers and students within the building. They then decorated a bulletin board on which to display all the bones. As people donated money they would write either their names or their pets names on the bones. Each week we would get together and count our money, create excel spread sheets, and graph our data.

The students would then figure out the increase that they have raised since the last time we meet. So far they have raised $124!!! These donations will be donated to the Humane Society of the South Coast that services the Greater New Bedford Area.

The 2nd Project: The "Blanket Drive"

The shelter mentioned that they needed blankets for the animals crates. The students have made posters, announcements, and collection boxes for this projects.  The students took all the pictures to share with everyone!
